Something I’ve been thinking about a lot recently – is what determines how fast a student learns to pilot an airplane? Some students seem to race through the syllabus, picking up skills and moving on through the different stages without a backward glance. For others their progress is more measured.

I’m very happy to say my new aircraft is online – an American Champion SuperDecathlon, C-FLMZ, and that means I’m now able to offer tailwheel training in it based at Billy Bishop Airport.

Let me preface this post by saying that I’m not a doctor nor do I have any medical qualifications. So you shouldn’t assume that what I state here is necessarily correct.
ONE of the challenges for new students is to get to grips with radio communications. This is especially important for my students as we conduct our lessons based at CYTZ, a busy controlled airport.

Today I read a curious decision handed down by the Transport Appeal Tribunal of Canada. That’s the body to which pilots can appeal if Transport Canada fines them (officially, issues an administrative monetary penalty) for breaking one of the Canadian Aviation Regulations.
