Congratulations are due to my student Stephen who passed his PPL flight test very recently, and in his own aircraft, a Diamond DA40. Stephen studied with me in the Grob that I use for primary training and bought his own airplane just after he soloed, so the majority of his training was done in the Diamond. Having his own airplane available made scheduling really easy – I could authorize solo training flights any appropriate time that suited his schedule. Because he’d completed all the other requirements for the PPL (including passing his written PPAER exam) I was able to sign of his Student Pilot Permit with PPL privileges right away, so he’s all set to fly under his own licence. I’m really looking forward to seeing what sort of flying he goes on to do.
